This project was phenomenal from start to finish. We had the pleasure of working with exceptional clients in Sarah and Trent, who had engaged the services of Latemore Design for a stunning renewal and extension design for their historic Bardon Queenslander.
The project had two distinct parts. One was a renovation of part of the existing Queenslander, with a new wing that was sympathetic to the 1880s original, and which included an extension of the front bedroom to incorporate a stunning bathroom and walk-in robes.
We also embarked on the construction of a new light-filled pavillion that would house a large kitchen and entertaining area opening up to the pool. This airy pavilion boasts midnight blue kitchen cabinetry, huge sliding glass walls, and clerestory windows on three sides to flood the space with light.
To link the two buildings, we built two glass corridors with a lightwell courtyard in the centre to deliver more light into both the old and new structures. The effect is extraordinary. Previously feeling a bit tired and crowded by the tall surrounding trees, the Bardon house now abounds in light and space.
This project was an example of great collaboration between the clients, trades, and designers. Our thanks to everyone involved.
