A lot had happened to this post-war weatherboard cottage over the years, including being bricked in underneath and its wooden facade stucco-rendered. But those changes were nothing compared to its next spectacular transformation.

With the help of Landini Constructions, this client’s 2 bedroom post-war cottage on a deep, sloping block was dramatically transformed into a modern 3-level, 4 bedroom family home with soaring views over Coorparoo. 

On the bottom level, we built a modern 2-car garage with plenty of storage, and an entry lobby, leading upstairs to a palatial living level with living areas, open plan kitchen,  bathroom, and office. Full-span glass sliding doors lead out to a split-level backyard, with a sunken courtyard and a small set of stairs connecting to the grassed backyard. 

The top level of the house is completely new. It is dedicated to the 4 bedrooms and bathrooms, with a small living room at the top of the stairs. The accommodation level also has a veranda with beautiful views —a lofty view that could only be achieved by adding this level. 

Outside, the whole building was clad in weatherboards, with the addition of the veranda making this postwar cottage-turned 3 storey house once again fit nicely into its heritage area. 

The final result was a modern, large and supremely livable home over three levels, with heaps of room for family and guests, and a modern, sleek interior with high-quality finishes.
